Getting to Yangshuo: Guilin Airport, train stations & transfers
From Guilin Airport, the direct Yangshuo coach is the simplest public transport option during its operating day. From Yangshuo railway station, choose the bus for Xingping or Yangshuo town after leaving the station. For a Yulong River hotel, a prebooked car often saves a second transfer. First check the complete station name: Yangshuo station is near Xingping, about an hour by road from Yangshuo town.

Choose transport for the place where you are staying
Save the hotel’s full Chinese address before departure. Yangshuo town, Xingping and the Yulong valley need different onward journeys, even when a booking site groups them under Yangshuo. Ask the hotel to confirm the arrival point and car access if it is outside town.
The table gives ordinary-traffic planning allowances after you have collected your luggage. Add time for queues and holiday congestion. Public fares are per person one way; taxis and booked transfers are quoted per vehicle. A countryside hotel can change the car journey substantially, so use its exact pin when requesting a price.
| Arrival | Recommended connection | Time and fare basis |
|---|---|---|
| Guilin Airport (KWL) | Direct coach to Yangshuo, then a local car if needed | Official coach: about 90 minutes; RMB 60 per person |
| Yangshuo station | Bus to town or Xingping; direct car for a Yulong hotel | Town about 50–70 minutes, posted bus fare RMB 20; Xingping about 15–20 minutes, RMB 5 |
| Guilin station | Direct car to the hotel, or an onward train if the timetable fits | Allow about 1½–2 hours by car to town; live vehicle quote |
| Guilin North / Guilin West | Compare a direct car with the next train to Yangshuo station | Allow about 1½–2½ hours by car to town; rail fare depends on the selected train |
Guilin Airport to Yangshuo: take the coach from Terminal 2
After collecting your bags, go to the first-floor arrivals area in Terminal 2. The airport’s Yangshuo coach ticket counter is beside Gate 6, with boarding outside that gate. The published standard fare is RMB 60 per person and the stated journey is about 90 minutes. The airport’s current coach page lists departures from 09:20 to 20:00, with uneven gaps between buses.
The listed arrival is Yangshuo County Passenger Transport Service Station, at No. 2 Qianguqing Avenue (千古情大道2号), rather than a hotel or West Street. Arrange a local taxi from that stop to a town hotel, or ask a Yulong property to collect you there. Allow another 15–30 minutes for this connection, depending on the address and traffic. For Xingping, a direct airport car is usually the simpler route; the Yangshuo coach takes you south of your destination before you travel back toward Xingping.
Buy at the staffed counter or use the 桂林机场 WeChat mini-program’s 机场巴士 section. If the online form does not accept your document or payment, use the counter with your passport. Choose a departure after immigration, baggage collection and the walk to Gate 6; the time your aircraft lands is not the time you can board the coach.
Yangshuo station to town, Xingping and Yulong River hotels
Follow the bus and taxi signs after leaving Yangshuo station (阳朔站). The station buses have separate destinations: Xingping (兴坪) is the short journey, while the town service goes toward Yangshuo’s Fengming visitor transport center (凤鸣游客集散中心). Posted station-bus fares reviewed for this guide were RMB 5 to Xingping and RMB 20 to Fengming. Buy for the named destination at the counter; neither is a door-to-door hotel transfer.
For a town hotel, take the Fengming bus, collect your bags and finish by taxi to the saved address. For an old-town-side Xingping hotel, take the Xingping bus and confirm the stop with your accommodation. A car directly from the station to a Yulong hotel is more convenient with heavy luggage: budget roughly 60–90 minutes of road time, depending on which village you chose.
The last bus is not reliably documented in the sources we could verify. If you arrive in the evening, ask the hotel to book a station pickup in advance and agree where the driver will meet you outside the exit. For a return train, count backward from the train’s departure using the road journey, luggage collection and station entry time; do not use the train’s short running time from Guilin as a measure of how close the station is to town.
Guilin, Guilin North and Guilin West are different stations
Guilin station (桂林站) is useful for a central city stay. Guilin North (桂林北站) and Guilin West (桂林西站) are farther from the lakes area. Search each exact name on 12306 before choosing an onward train to Yangshuo. A convenient through train from your previous city can be better than adding a city transfer just to change departure stations.
If you have already arrived at a Guilin station, compare the full onward journey: waiting for another train, security and boarding, the rail trip, then the road transfer from Yangshuo station. The train ride itself can be around half an hour on some services, but that does not make it a half-hour hotel connection. With several travelers and luggage, a direct car to town or a Yulong hotel can be the more useful choice even if its quoted price is higher.
Book rail tickets using the same original passport you will carry, and use the staffed document channel if the gate cannot read it. Our foreign-passport train booking guide covers registration, name entry and station procedures. Leave a generous gap if changing trains also requires a road journey between stations.

Book a car with the complete hotel address and luggage count
For a private transfer, send the airport or exact station name, arrival time, hotel address, passenger count and number of suitcases. Request the total per vehicle with tolls, parking and waiting terms included. A standard car can be too small for four adults with large suitcases; ask for the vehicle size before comparing quotes. Use an app’s live fare or a written hotel quote because a single fixed ‘Guilin to Yangshuo taxi fare’ does not cover all pickup points and villages.
If using DiDi, select the actual station pickup area shown in the app after arrival, rather than a generic road outside the building. The DiDi guide for visitors explains destination pins and driver contact. At rural hotels and remote piers, arrange the return before leaving the base; immediate ride-hailing availability is less dependable than a city-center pickup.
What to do after the last coach or station bus
If your flight cannot comfortably connect with the airport’s last listed Yangshuo coach at 20:00, book a direct car or stay in Guilin and continue the following morning. Do not buy a coach seat on the assumption that the bus will wait for a delayed flight. For a countryside arrival, tell reception your expected arrival time and ask whether dinner or a simple meal will still be available.
After an evening train to Yangshuo station, a prearranged pickup is the clearest plan for a town or Yulong hotel. If your first night is still flexible and you want to explore Xingping, staying there reduces the remaining road journey. Choose that because it suits the next day too: moving again early in the morning can erase the time saved at night.
Connect the transfer to your cruise or departure plan
A full Li River cruise starts at a pier outside Guilin and travels one way to Yangshuo. If you want that journey, stay in Guilin beforehand rather than transferring to Yangshuo and returning north for the boat. The cruise planning guide compares the boats, departure piers and luggage arrangements.
For the journey home, book the hotel-to-airport or hotel-to-station leg before your final countryside outing. The airport publishes reverse Yangshuo coach departures from 07:30 to 17:50; use the exact ticketed boarding point and selected-day timetable. For flights, also allow the airline’s required airport check-in time. Our accommodation comparison helps place the final night near the part of the region you want to leave from.
